At Cameron James, a cornerstone of our success is our transparency and is something our clients regularly comment on.
When asked what our existing clients value the most about working with us, transparency was their top answer in 2023, 2024 and 2025.

Transparency means no out of sight charges, hidden commissions or exit penalties that trap you. We provide you with a clear Advice Report, that highlights any provider costs and things to consider. Putting you in an educated position to make informed decisions on your planning.

Advice Implementation: 3%

Advice Implementation: 2%

A Minimum FCA Authorised PTS Report Fee of £3K applies to Final Salary (DB) Pension Transfer Advice up to £500K.

Kindly note, our Advice Implementation Fees are not tiered. For example, £500K of assets would be charged at 2% (£10,000).
Not as 3% on the first £250K, and 2% on the next £250K (£12,500). All Cameron James costs are total amounts, no additional VAT.

Our philosophy at Cameron James is building long-term relationships with all our clients. As such, any previous fees are considered when advising on further assets. For example, if we initially provide advice on £500K of assets, and fees of £10,000 charged, and later you ask for advice on another £600K (perhaps from inheritance or other pensions), we would consider that as a total of £1.1M at 1% (or £11,000). 

So only an additional £1,000 would apply to onboard the new £600K of assets, we would not treat it as a separate piece of advice subject to its fee schedule unless it were unduly complex advice. We do this as we want to encourage our clients to entrust us with their whole financial affairs, which makes our job as “full fat” lifestyle financial planners easier and increases the value of our comprehensive Cashflow Planning.

Portfolios Over £1M

Kindly see our reduced Annual Planning fees for clients who hold over £1M+ AUA with us. This encourages our clients to entrust us with their wider holistic financial planning, which is when we really come into our own through our Voyant Cashflow modelling.

If you find yourself sitting just below one of our £1M thresholds, don’t worry, have a conversation with your IFA and within reason we will look to get you onboarded on the next fee schedule. Especially if you are planning to onboard more AUA soon. See more on that below!  

Typical Holistic Client Journey With Us

For many of our clients, the ‘entry point’ to Cameron James is resolving the problem and headache of their UK pension assets. For example, Defined Contribution pensions which were scattered around, poorly invested or simply unoptimised and not working hard enough for them. Similarly with Defined Benefit transfers, where our clients either felt they were unable to live the life or retirement they wished within the scheme rules, or felt uncomfortable with the limited beneficiary options for intergenerational planning.

Others reach out to us having already taken ‘financial advice’ on their UK pensions which they now regret. Finding themselves in a SIPP or QROPS they are unhappy with. Common frustrations include excessive or untransparent charges that stifle their growth, or simply not receiving any real ongoing valuable service in return for the costs they are paying.

Once onboarded with Cameron James, we find the majority of our clients continue to onboard further assets with us after seeing our strong advice levels and performance. Past performance is no guide to future performance, but it has certainly been a determining factor for many of our clients in subsequently appointing us as their IFA across all their policies.

That takes hard work and building trust on both sides, which is what we are all about. It is also worth noting that the initial pension transfer or change of adviser can take many months depending on the complexity of the pension transfer and the ineptitude, or greed, of their existing provider.

During that waiting period, rather than watching paint dry with these schemes, our Advisers are trained to continue discovering how we can help our clients improve their holistic financial planning; whether that be through ensuring our clients have the necessary Wills, LPAs, Inheritance Tax or Estate Planning, Income & Life Protection in place to protect their family or the usual suspects of optimising GIAs and ISAs, or setting up JISAs and Junior SIPPs for the next generation.

If you are looking for a transactional one-off relationship, then we are unlikely the best fit for you. We are proper financial planners and so you will find us annoying as we look to find more ways to improve your finances or bring to your attention things you may not have considered yet for your beneficiaries.

    Once the courier collects your application pack we do everything from there. We will chase the providers on your behalf by email or telephone until the case is finalised. We will keep you updated throughout.

    You have come to us for advice. Our job is to educate you and help you make informed decisions. Our Adviser will explain things as many times as you need.

  • Clear Cost Section

    Every advice report has a dedicated cost page. No jargon. No small print. Just clear and easy to understand costs for you to make an informed decision based on the benefits and the costs of the advice.

  • Global DHL Courier Costs

    Your application pack will be securely couriered and collected from you anywhere in the world. We pay for this. This ensures faster transfer speeds on all pension work and also allows us to monitor the arrival of your application and our admin resources to ensure your case starts being processed on the day of arrival.

  • Pre-Completed Forms

    Your dedicated Adviser & Admin will prepare any Financial Paperwork, Admin or Forms that you may need to complete. This saves you time and reduces errors once submitted.

  • Dedicated Admin

    You also have your own dedicated Admin. This means if you ever need assistance you can reach out directly to your Admin who is already familiar with your policy. This is also helpful if your Adviser is busy helping another client.
