Career Journey

I am originally from Spain but started my career in Brussels at the Global Financial Services team of Agilent Technologies (spin off Hewlett Packard). After 6 years holding different positions in finance, I moved to Dubai to work in Management Consulting and Venture Capital. As a strategy consultant, I worked for Booz Allen Hamilton, defining strategy solutions for clients in the Middle East, like the Ministry of Finance of Egypt.

Since I wanted to specialize in finance, I took the offer to work as an Associate VP of Investments in a Venture Capital Fund, a subsidiary of Dubai World. My experience in emerging markets also extends to South Africa, where I worked as CFO for a tech startup company.

I hold a 5-year university degree in Economics and Finance from a top private university in Spain, studying my last year in Austria. Because of my international exposure, I speak German and French. I am bilingual in Spanish and English.

After gaining six years of experience with Agilent, I pursued my MBA at ESADE Barcelona, a program ranked in the top 20 by the Financial Times. Working for a venture capital fund in Dubai made me realise the significance of accredited qualifications in finance. Motivated by this realisation, I embarked on the journey to obtain the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, which I have successfully achieved.

Role at Cameron James

I joined Cameron as an Independent Financial Advisor three years ago, and have rapidly built my client base and assets under management. Serving clients in the UK, EU, US, with UK pension transfer advice, retirement planning, portfolio management and rigorous Cash Flow planning.

After just two years with Cameron James, I was promoted to Senior Adviser—the fastest progression in the firm’s history. In this role, I lead by example, setting a high standard for both customer service and the quality of financial advice we deliver.

As the only female adviser in the firm, I’ve naturally taken on the role of a mentor and role model for our female colleagues in administration and paraplanning. It’s a responsibility I carry with pride, and an honour to support and inspire others as they grow in their careers.

I actively advocate for greater visibility and representation of women in financial advice. I’m proud to share that I have been nominated for Woman of the Year 2025 at the Women in Financial Advice Awards, in both the Investment Advice and Financial Advice – Retirement Planning categories. Being recognised in this way is both humbling and motivating, and it reinforces my commitment to championing diversity and excellence within the industry.

In short, at Cameron James, I excel in delivering holistic financial planning and advice to clients, by capitalising on my in-depth knowledge about financial markets and products together with my experience of delivering solutions to clients. I considered Cameron James Financial, because I had been notified by Fundment, that Hartley Pensions were having some financial problems, therefore Clients were required to transfer their funds to a new Scheme. Initially I was advised by Fundment, that they were going to attempt to create their own FA Team. This took some time and at the point when I received notification from the Liquidation Org, that if no progress had been made to find a Scheme, that would take the 'Book' of Clients from Hartley, within a certain period , it was likely that Funds would have to be returned to Clients in cash, this making, in most cases, those Clients liable for a large HMRC tax grab. So having checked out CFJ online at FSCS and registrations etc. I made the call. I was not disappointed. I received clear transparent advice from Nathaniel Jacobs from the start. Bearing in mind that this process took 2 yrs to finalize, I will stress here, not due to any lack of diligence from the CJF Team. They kept in constant contact and advised where necessary right up to completion just a few weeks ago. I was very happy with my pension and its performance with Royal London, however I retired to Portugal. That’s when certain difficulties occurred as I needed to move my pension to an EU regulated fund. I am a Canadian who worked for many years in the UK and ended up contributing into a few different work related pensions. I recently decided that I wanted to consolidate these pensions into one easy to manage pension to save the hassle of chasing several different pension providers when the time comes to draw my pensions. I started out trying to find who in the UK could help and contacted several pension companies and advisors, only to find that as a non-resident of the UK setting up my own SIPP (self invested personal pension) would not be possible with most of the mainstream pension providers in the UK. They just aren’t willing to to this. After extensive research and consultation with companies willing to set-up International SIPP I decided on Cameron James UK & Expat Financial Planning. I was immediately put I touch with Andere Casanova who spent a great deal of time explaining the whole process. I am so pleased with the excellent service that Andere Casanova has provided, she is a real asset and anyone who has the pleasure to work with her will not have any regrets.
