Barry Howard
Career Journey
My career in financial services began over two decades ago, driven by a genuine passion for helping people navigate their financial futures. I started on the ground floor, cutting my teeth in the fast-paced world of UK mortgages and personal protection. Gaining those foundational qualifications early on taught me that financial planning isn’t just about numbers, it’s about building trust, asking the right questions, and understanding a client’s real-world needs.
Over the course of 21 years, my career evolved from executing individual transactions to managing comprehensive wealth strategies. A pivotal moment for me was recognising how complex the world was becoming for British expats and international investors. Dealing with UK pension systems, changing tax laws, and cross-border regulations required an agile, modern approach that traditional high-street brokerages simply couldn’t offer.
What ultimately brought me to Cameron James was their stellar reputation for transparency and their forward-thinking business model. Seeing an agile firm that treats clients with ultimate respect, backed by hundreds of 5-star reviews and a dominant online presence, made it clear to me that this was the right home. I wanted to leverage my decades of experience to help scale this incredible platform.

Professional Overview
I’ve spent more than two decades working in the UK and international financial services sectors, both as a frontline IFA and a Sales Manager. Over that time, I’ve learned that successful wealth management requires two things: deep technical expertise and absolute transparency.
My background spans holistic financial planning, cross-border pensions (DipFA), and complex property debt structuring (Adv CeMAP). But beyond the technicalities, my real passion is leadership. Holding qualifications in supervisory management and regulated customer care (CeSRE, CeRCC), I focus on building and mentoring advisory teams that don’t just hit targets, but actually do right by the client. Whether I’m guiding an expat through a complicated cross-border transition or coaching an adviser on high-value portfolio management, my goal is always to combine institutional-grade standards with a highly personalised approach.
Management & Team Philosophy
Lead by Example & Transparency: I believe in complete lead-allocation transparency and an open-door policy. No hidden conversations; every adviser knows where they stand based on their suitability and work ethic.
Empowerment Through Mentorship: Providing high-caliber, practical, real-world training that equips remote-working advisers with the confidence and compliance knowledge to manage complex cross-border cases independently.
Client-First Culture: Instilling a deep-rooted belief that doing what is right for the client always comes above all else. Success and sustainable Assets Under Management (AUM) naturally flow from honest advice.
Resilience and Positive Drive: Cultivating a high-energy team culture that embraces rejection as part of growth, maintains tight diary management, and possesses an unwavering drive to be successful.
